pancake machine. Just examining how it worked was worth the price of a night's stay. A machine like that could be a disaster for my waste line.
Galway has an excellent museum on Ireland and Galway, situated adjacent to the harbor. Two hours there gave me an excellent overview of Galway and the civil war for independence. Luncheoned at a pub restaurant on a side street near the harbor. Walked the front, dodging the rain as I took in the buildings and people. Back to the hostel for a nap and to determine my next ride. Yesterday's ride was so nice, I lost track of how long between breaks. The mind keeps
pushing but the body needs a break. What's the rush, I guess I am too goal oriented. So instead of riding the distance to Clefton, I will shut down in a small town called Roundhead after a stop at Carraroe to see where the Galway Hooker working sailboat hails from. A full size one was suspended from the museum ceiling, very impressive, made for the Atlantic coast of Ireland.
A whole day of meandering around Galway gave me all I needed. It is still a bustling city and I would rather be out in the country riding along enjoying nature. So I didn't blow off Galway. I saw the place, no need to see it again. Cities just don't it for me. Culture is just novocain for a place having too many people in too close a space. Bright and early I am off but not before I have few pancakes.
