Late start, took it easy

I have switched to writing my blog in the AM when I get up, too tired at night, more coherent in the morning.  Checked out the longest beach in Europe after packing up.  Steep climb over the dunes and I could see all of one hundred yards in either direction due to the fog. As I departing, I wanted to bid farewell to my German/Swiss friends. Gerhard and Elka were waiting for me. As a camera fanatic, he had already zoned in on me with his Hubble telescope camera.  They insisted I stay for breakfast which included the best pate, cheese, sausage and coffee. Can't hate that. Great people, it makes the trip so worthwhile when I meet such nice people.  Maybe I will see them stateside.
Started pedaling at 11:50, rode only thirty-two miles, stopped at Wexford, nice town, busy, but not much to see.  I pushed on staying in the back roads until I came to Kilmore Quay ("key" as they say), beautiful town with thatched roof houses lining the street all the way down to the harbor.  There must have been fifty large and small fishing vessels docked, a serious fishing port.  No campsite per se but the lot in back of the community center was where people have set up tents. Not written but no one minds. The harbor masters building had a excellent shower facility so I put the two together and presto, I was good the night.  Across the street was a restaurant/pub where I indulged in a delicious dinner.  Talking to the locals at the bar was fun though I needed a translator  most of the time, that Irish brogue is tough to get a handle on.  Strolled down to the harbor and checked out all the boats and head back to my tent.  Being the only tent set in a large field made me a bit apprehensive so I was relieved to see another tent there on my return.  The other tent dwellers rallied into the night as I faded away.
Off to Hook Head a short ways away,  the town has several really interesting places to see on top of being a charming place.  Julia is twenty-seven today, time marches on.
